Consul General presents Israel’s first “social impact grant” to 3 organizations in Minneapolis
Israel’s Consul General in the Midwestern United States presents the country’s first Social Impact Grants to three local organizations in Minneapolis as Jerusalem seeks inroads with diverse communities across the United States.
Three checks for $ 5,000 were presented to A Mother’s Love, which works to prevent gun violence in the Twin Cities; Minnesota STEM Partnership, which provides opportunities for people of color in math and science; and Her Time to Play, a WNBA affiliate group that empowers young women to develop their life skills through basketball. They were selected from applications submitted by hundreds of organizations.
“These three grassroots organizations in Minnesota reflect a value that is also important in Israeli society: looking out for one another and looking out for one another,” Israeli Consul General in the Midwest Yinam Cohen said in a statement.
After presenting the grants to the three groups, Cohen meets with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. After which, he says, “It’s clear that our visions for community-centered change are aligned. We are therefore delighted with the road ahead, paved by the shared social impact values of Israel and Minnesota. “
