Former senator Al Franken returns to comedy with a list of shows in Minneapolis

Comedian and former Minnesota senator Al Franken is back on stage this week.

Franken will be on national television hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night and on stage later this week at Acme Comedy Company in Minneapolis‘ Warehouse District.

The comedian returns to the limelight nearly five years after resigning from the Senate following allegations that he inappropriately touched several women.

“I think it’s great that he’s coming back,” said Patrick Strait, author of “Funny Thing about Minnesota.” “I think he demonstrated that now was the right time to do it.”

Franken’s former Senate colleague, Senator Amy Klobuchar, told us upon her return, “He’s a good friend and I’m really glad his show is going so well.”

Franken’s shows at Acme Comedy Company are all sold out.
