Police chase ends with death of Minneapolis shooting suspect


Elk River, MN (KROC-AM News) – A police chase involving a suspect in the Minneapolis shooting ended yesterday with the crash in a fatal shooting.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said law enforcement officers from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and the Big Lake Police Department spotted the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 10 and at a At some point during the chase, the driver shot the police. The BCA reported that the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway shortly thereafter and crossed the opposite traffic lanes before hitting a barrier and stopping at Elk River.

Prosecuting officers found the driver dead inside the vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was alone in the vehicle and officials say there is no evidence that any of the officers involved fired his gun.

The man, whose name has not been released, was wanted in a shooting in Minneapolis early Saturday. According to the BCA, witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire between two men in an apartment, one of whom was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
